Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Program in Hamilton supports and encourages early literacy experiences in homes specifically located in the L8L postal code, and their mission is to foster a love of reading in children, to raise kindergarten readiness, and to ensure that every child born has access to books at home regardless of their family’s income by mailing out free, high-quality, and age-appropriate books to children from birth to the age of five. The program which was started by Dolly herself over 20 years ago is is run here in Hamilton locally through The Eva Rothwell Centre. A not-for-profit organization which has been an anchor of the under-serviced Keith neighbourhood of Hamilton since 2006. At the heart of the Eva Rothwell Centre has always been free child and youth programming, focusing on wellness, youth empowerment, creative arts, essential skills, literacy, and much more. The Eva Rothwell Centre provides a wide range of no-barrier educational and developmental activities so that children and youth are given opportunities to engage, grow, and succeed. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Hamilton has partnered with the Eva Rothwell Centre because we know that we can successfully work together to raise literacy rates within our community.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Program in Hamilton currently sends out a free age-appropriate new book to 475 children in the area every month. There are currently over 300 children on the waitlist to join the program, however new registrations have been put on hold while they look to secure more funding to ensure that Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library Program in Hamilton can continue to be sustainable, and children can continue to receive free monthly books until the age of five.

Help us raise money for an organization that means so much to our community and focuses on children's literacy!
